National conference on Challenges in Citrus production

Citrus is one the most economically important fruit tree crops not only in the world but also in Pakistan. Citrus has nutritional and medicinal value for the human health and a fair source of foreign exchange. Pakistan ranks in top 20 for the citrus production. This ranking is in contrast to the potential of the citrus growing areas of the Pakistan. Currently, citrus production is threatening by different biotic and abiotic factors. Therefore, an awareness and timely proper management in citrus orchards are the key factors not only to increase the citrus production at country level but also for the well-being of citrus growers.

Aims & Objectives

To promote the different practices related to increase in citrus production. To discourse on the issues responsible for the low citrus production. Expert opinions will be shared for the stakeholders.

Understanding the Citrus Importance: It explains the economic importance of citrus in foreign exchange. It also demonstrates the citrus germplasm present in the country and its conservation.
Citrus Production in Pakistan: It explain the focus on production of different citrus varieties at commercial level in different areas of Pakistan.
Causes of Citrus decline: It mainly focuses on different causes of citrus decline in terms of diseases and insect pests.
Role of nutrients in citrus production: It explains the role of micro and micronutrients in citrus production through yield and quality.
Management of Citrus Orchards: It explains all the good horticultural and agronomic practices for the citrus orchards throughout the season.
Citrus nurseries to Citrus Orchards: It reveals the certification and registration of citrus nurseries that leads the establishment of healthy citrus orchards for the high and sustainable citrus production.

Improved management Practices: It is expected to provide the good horticultural and agronomic practices for the improvement in management of citrus orchards.
Conservation of germplasm: Information will be available regarding current citrus germplasm present in country and its conservation.
Wellbeing of citrus growers: The information will be available for the citrus growers to adopt the standardized management practices so that they could make timely decisions to make more profit.
Knowledge transfer: It is expected that knowledge will be transferred from universities and research institutes to citrus growers and other stakeholders through agricultural extension department.

The College of Agriculture, University of Sargodha is pleased to announce a National Conference under the title “Challenges in Citrus production”. The conference will be held at College of Agriculture, University of Sargodha, Sargodha on March 5, 2024.
You are cordially invited to attend and participate in the Conference and citrus show during the conference.
The conference will cover the following subjects in relation to Citrus; Plant Pathology, Nutritional management of Citrus, Entomology, Biocontrol and Bio pesticide, Biosecurity and Invasive species, Biotechnology and Diagnostic Advancement, Epidemiology and Modelling, precision Agriculture in Citrus production, Pesticide Science, Pest Management, Pesticide Application Technology and Weed Science.

CITRUS ARTWORK BY THE STUDENTS

Students artwork will be displayed outside the conference hall for the audience. All posters must be self-explanatory. The poster must be 80 cm × 110 cm. Minimize text and maximize the number of figures, schemes, and structures. The figure legends are essential and should be concise. The contents must be readable from at least six feet. There will be prize for position holders in poster competition.
